From Stressed to Serene: Your Best Holiday Yet
Did you laugh when you saw this headline? “Best” holiday? In 2020? Is that the same holiday where you can’t see your family, you are most likely quarantined, you cry over your tiny table set for four and your kids overhear you trash talking Santa because Amazon has shipping delays? Yes, that’s the one!
Are you looking for tips on how to wrap up this year with a smile AND get excited about the holidays?
What is the secret to a successful season? Well, it all lies in clarity. You need to get clear about your feelings. Like so clear that your actions are automatic and your joy becomes a habit. So grab your party dress (or in the case of 2020, your Zoom outfit) and let’s come up with a plan for holiday fulfillment, despite the whirling insanity around us.
Step 1: CLARITY AROUND FEELINGS
What are your current or anticipated feelings around the Holidays? Write them down.
Some feelings in our current climate:
Overwhelmed, exhausted, sad, scared, unmotivated, uninspired
Connecting with your desired feelings or outcomes can result in feeling:
Hopeful, content, calm, connected, energized, joyful.
Write those new feelings down.
Step 2: CLARITY AROUND EXPECTATIONS
What do you want? What do the people in your life want? Do not make assumptions. Put on your Brene Brown or Yoda hat and get curious.
Step 3: CLARITY AROUND INTENTIONS
What can you delegate? What is behind the desire to do it all? Be it all? Wearing your “me + the holidays = perfect host/mom/daughter” signature t-shirt is a recipe for burnout and resentment.
People want to be included in the work, it brings meaning to their season, too. Share the magic.
If the above three steps don’t send you to the moon with joy and you need help putting these practices in action please join me for my upcoming signature Holiday Workshop: From Stressed to Serene.
Friday, December 4, at 9:00 am PST
