Resolution Burnout is Real. Here's How To Avoid It

It’s 2023 and heat is on! Make resolutions. Set goals. Set bigger goals. Be better. Do more. And then what? How will you know when it is enough? When you are enough?

We’ve had a rough few years, and things still feel uncertain. Want to avoid resolution burnout? Stop making resolutions. Setting arbitrary resolutions won't set you up for success in the long term, it may even set you back.

 WHY?

Because as a mindset and career coach I have witnessed the “why” behind resolutions. They often stem from feelings of “less than”. It's our inner critic + societal expectations telling us how we should act and who we should be. We become disconnected from ourselves and our bodies. The minute December turns into January we let other people steer our ship. It’s time to step off the resolution rodeo and start seeking counsel from your most trusted advisor. YOU.

Make today the day you start captaining your own vessel.

FORGET THE OUTSIDE WORLD. YOUR NUMBER ONE MISSION THIS JANUARY IS TO BUILD A DEEPER CONNECTION WITH YOURSELF

Start making decisions with your values in mind. Listen to your heart and choose themes for your career and life that are meaningful to you and release the external pressure to be a “better” version of yourself.

A few steps to help:

  1. Set boundaries and say no to things that aren't serving you. Practice the art of prioritizing your own comfort over someone else's.

  2. Seek help. Find a coach or therapist who can help unlock your blocks and dismantle your beliefs and help set you on a path of self awareness, confidence and possibilities so you can make more wholehearted decisions. (You can book a 15 minute call with me here to learn more about working together)

  3. Feel organized by intentionally planning your week every Monday. Take the time to think about how you want to feel, block off time for growth and creativity, pencil in time for refection and journaling. Master your mindset.

  4. Stop comparing yourself to other people. Look inward, highlight your accomplishments and make gratitude a part of your day. The truth is what you choose to believe.

  5. Have fun. Reward yourself. Connect with people that make you feel good.

These are just a few tips I have for creating a deeper connection to yourself and drowning out the noise of be better/do better!
